Energy Assessment

An energy assessment is important in the design of a solar PV system to determine how much electricity is being consumed and at what time of day. This process can help identify opportunities for energy and financial savings, by reducing the owner’s energy consumption or limiting the size of the PV system required to offset their loads. To save the customer as much money as possible, the primary objective is to reduce the amount of power purchased from the grid.

This course will teach you how to:

• Complete a load assessment and gain an insight on energy usage patterns, using a table or power-logging equipment.
• Implement load shifting strategies to manage the operation of appliances.
• Identify energy efficiency measures in a household, including lighting, heating and cooling, hot water and common appliances.

This course is part of the Grid-Connected PV Systems training pathways. Before you enrol in this course, you should complete all the Technical Fundamentals courses.
